Forum Tutorial #1 - Posting a thread

Fri Sep 28, 2012, 9:57 AM
Ez a téma olvasható magyarul is!

Hi there,

So I decided to start +forum Tutorials too since the ChatNetwork ones are pretty popular and a lot of people said it's easy to understand it and it makes me happy :)
Not to mention that I wouldn't like to leave out the Forums since it's an important part of deviantART too! So let's get started!

BUT before we do anything - I'd like to ask you to read the following FAQ!

:police: FAQ #801: Are there any rules for the Forums?

How to post a thread?!

I get asked a lot from newbies to the Forums that how can one submit a thread? There is no button for it and they can't see any links or something! :noes:
It's really easy! All you have to do is select the appropriate Forum you'd like to post your thread to and scroll down a little!

For example let's say that you'd like to promote your chatroom or group here on deviantART!
The right place to do that is the

Groups, Chatrooms & Events Forum!

Important: Always read the sticky threads before posting! They contain every information you'd require and rules to the Forums!

SO if you scroll down a little, you'll see the following part:

Just type in the subject, the body part and hit submit!
You can always use the 'Preview' function to check if the coding is right and the links and other tags :)

But please make sure that:
:bulletpink: You actually read the Forum Posting Guidelines!
:bulletpink: Your thread is following the Forum Rules! -  FAQ #801: Are there any rules for the Forums?
:bulletpink: It is in the right place!

Little plus:
If you'd like your thread to be locked - you can ask a Community Volunteer in #help and they will kindly do that for you :)

Do you have a question?

Or you have any ideas what to include in future articles?
Awesome! All you have to do is write a comment on this journal!
on the linked one, not on this one - but I welcome any questions here as well ;)

Also if you are not sure what to say, it is a good idea to lurk and maybe reply to a few things first. Get an idea of the atmosphere, otherwise you might walk into complaints thinking everyone is going to be nice....
