It is a really interesting topic in my opinion and I would like to share my thoughts about it and also, hear from you, what do you think about it.

What is it?

Well it is when you see a - or a bunch of - really amazing deviations and you feel the urge to favourite it (:+fav:)  but then you just go on. Not leaving any comments.

Is it bad?

For some, it can be a bit frustrating. Even for those who are doing it. Yes, it happens.
You might want to know why someone liked your work. Would love some feedback on it. Humans are curious, that is only natural.

For the collector it might be a bit uneasy, because they might want to leave a comment but afraid it wouldn't be meaningful because it is hard to transform your feelings and thoughts in some cases.

They don't want to leave a "awesome photo" or "very cool", as it is a nice thing to write, don't get me wrong, but let's just be honest, it is not that constructive.

Do I do it?

Absolutely, I'm guilty of this. I'm just not good at describing things. I feel like my comment is not that great and it would only be a waste to type down nonsense. At the same time, it might help the deviant understand whyt caught my attention, why I decided to fav their work. To put it simply, because I "liked" it. Yes of course, but I'm a tad picky when it comes to faving. I might like a piece but then decide not to fav it, because it misses something little, but it is still not quite right. It might be just me.

How do I feel about it?

It's fine. I don't get that many comments, but it is totally fine. I post things because I am proud of my work. I don't want to brag about it, I simply want it to be archived somewhere. And maybe others will like what I do, but my main goal is to please myself. I only upload my "very best". But for some it might be just a plain photo and maybe the ones I do not upload might be pleasing others, because they can notice something about it which I cannot. But I won't upload anything, because it has to pass my approval first.

What are the reasons for it?

There can be plenty of reasons behind it.

  • not having much freetime to comment
  • they are just here to collect stuff, they'd rather not socialise
  • lack of language skills - it can cause many issues
  • they feel uneasy commenting because they think what they would like to say is not makink sense or that it would only be a bother

What are your thoughts?

I would really want to know. The best turnout would be to see both sides. The ones that are "nutorious" fav and runners and those whose works are not getting much or any comments at all but many or some likes.

Let's discuss this, shall we?

:)

I fave for varying reasons.  To bookmark, to save images I like to keep looking at so I don't have to keep searching for it later, for possible reference, because I like the work, etc.  And I don't always comment on everything I fave.  To me, commenting is an OPTION, it should never be a REQUIREMENT.  So when I see "don't fave without commenting" on images, that makes me less inclined to fave the work in the first place.
