How do I join a chatroom?

First of all I'd like you to read the rules regarding Chatrooms!

In order to join a chatroom, you may want to go to the +chat page.
deviantART's official channel is :#devart: which is moderated by Community Volunteers and $taff.
To go to that channel, click on the green button with fella on it!
I'm in a channel and I'd like to join another!
There are some ways to do that!
The most easy way
If you know the name of the chatroom you'd like to join then all you have to do is type in the following command:
/join channelname

The /join command opens the new channel in a new tab so you don't have to have a bunch o

What 'privclasses' are?

Privlasses (Privilege Classes) are like groups what can be customized. Each group has privileges (abilities or rights) what can be given and taken by the Founder or other chatroom moderators with admin rights.
Here is a little example of privclasses:

Operators

Guests
Banned
Here is a little explanation for each:
Founders

The original creator of the chatroom. They has the most rights (for example: if the room if 'closed' and by that I mean: the ability for joining is taken, the Founder can still join the channel.)

Moderators. You can set their rights for example give them the right to kick others and

Are you tired of your chatroom? You created a new one and want to delete the old one? Read this and you'll get to know how to do that!

It is not possible to delete a chatroom at this time and we apologize for any inconvenience; however you can effectively "closed" a chatroom by following these steps:
For each Group or Privclass name, type the command /admin update privclass PrivclassName -joinThis will make it so no one can join the chatroom anymore except for the creator
I'm going to show you a much more easy and quick way to do the same

Again, go and click on the Chatroom Settings and a window should pop up

Now, click on every privclass you have and click on the ✓ before the Can Join part

Do it on every privclass you have and only the Founde

PE: Digital Art VS other categoriesThe category system within deviantArt has the purpose to organize the thousands of artworks submitted every day and group them together in accordance to style, media, genre and/or theme, etc. Imagine deviantArt without categories, it would be a chaos! Imagine yourself wanting to browse for photography only; without the system organizing every deviation by media, you would find yourself unable to filter artworks that aren't photography in your search results.
Thus the importance of categorizing your artwork correctly. By submitting your work to the appropiate category combined with a correct use of keywords, you're a step ahead of being discovered by people wanting to search for art like yours.

This is the first step to take. Go to the +chat page. On the right, you should see the following buttons:

As you may be aware, we are in the process of revisiting gallery descriptions and making sure that all of our submissions categories make sense and are useful to you. We also want to make sure that categories are mutually exclusive so that people don't submit their deviations to the wrong galleries/categories by mistake.
This process brought out a very interesting conversation among some members of the CV team. Specifically, we started talking about what, fundamentally, the difference between digital drawing and digital painting was. Does it depend on brush strokes? Is there some technique used on one but not the other? What sets the two apart?

Okay so first of all, let's check if there's any FAQ about Commands a deviant can use on dAmn!

How to do an action?

Have you ever wondered how other deviants in chatrooms do that their message is in italics and not looking like a normal text?
It's really easy!
All you have to typing in is the following:

/me is awesome
This will happen!

How can I find my friend?

If you are looking for a friend of yours or you're a ninja on a special mission, you can find them!

All you have to do is typing in the following:

/whois dekoradum
You'll see the following

Please note that it only works if your friend (or the deviant you are looking for or interested in what kind of rooms they are in) is online!
You'll receive an error message if that's not the case

Leaving a room

without closing all the other tabs

It's simple. If you would like to leave a room but you are still chatting in other rooms and you'd rather not close the browser window and rejoin every room just to get rid of one, you can do the following!

Simply type in the following:
/part channelname

This is a really nice and useful command

Checking privclasses

If you'd like to know who is in a certain privclass of the channel you are in, type in the following:
/admin show users
_{Note: if you type in this, it will show every privclass and their Members}

But if you'd like to know the Mods only,

/admin show users Moderators

_{Note: The privclass name can be different in other channels}

This command is helpful if you would like to contact the Moderators, Founders for any reason and you can't find out who they are, now you'll know how to find it out! (in unofficial channels!)
